This is the area of the creek where Bobby slipped. This picture was taken four days later, and you can see by the dirt on the grass where the water had already receeded so much. I will never know what it was my son dropped in the water that day and tried so hard to reach....I will never know.
This marker was made by my dear Brother-in-law and put up by him and his wonderful dad over the old train trestle which my son was found under only 150 yards from the bridge.
This is one of the many stories that were reported by the media. This "story" was such big "news" that regular TV programs were interrupted so they could report this story which they never got right! Even after learning the true story it was never reported truthfully.
To The Wonderful Caring People Who Helped I just wanted to extend my gratitude to everyone involved in the search for my son. I was out of state at the time and when we left that day he had still not been found. I did not call on the way to check the status of the search because I felt I already knew and did not want to hear confirmation of it. Some were holding on to hope but I knew in my heart there was none. The closer we got to our destination that night I turned from hopeless hoping to praying that he had at least been found. I could not imagine if he had not been. I know that the FATHER was ready for this wonderful boy but there is such an emptiness and longing without him here. Everyone worked so hard to find him and I am forever grateful to each and every person who gave their efforts at such an emotionally devastating time. I ask them to remember him this way, in these pictures, and not as he was when he was last looked upon by the wonderful caring heros who pulled him from the water.
